Donald Hervey Martin

Donald Hervey Martin, 85, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021. He was born March 27, 1936 in Surry County to the late Hervey and Artie Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Martin Kimmer; sisters, Patsy Martin, Colleen Martin; and his brothers, Ted Martin, and Tommy Martin. He is survived by his wife, Betty Triplett Martin; granddaughters, Kristen Ryon, and Eden Kimmer; great-grandchildren, Chance Carter, and Sophia Carter. During his retirement years, Mr. Martin was an avid fisherman, and golfer with an excellent tee shot for a lefty. He also enjoyed repairing old lawn mowers, and he dearly loved his faithful K9 companion “Bailey”. A graveside service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday November 23, 2021 at Crestwood Memorial Gardens in State Road with Dr. Roger Hensley officiating. The family would like to thank the staff of Pruitt Health in Elkin for the loving care shown to Donald, and also Hugh Chatham Hospital ICU staff and especially Nurse “Jonathan”.
