Doris Speer Gunter

Mocksville Mrs. Doris Speer Gunter, 92, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Willowbrook Rehab Center. Mrs. Gunter was born May 19, 1928 in Yadkin County to Eriv and Myrtle Collins Speer. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting and word searches. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gunter was preceded in death by her husband, Lindsay Raymond Gunter; a son, Steve Gunter; two great grandchildren, Janet Sidden and Alexis Jade Blanton; a sister, Ruby Goss; four brothers, Leo, William, Roy, and JW Speer; and two sons-in-law, Gary Sidden and Paul Melrose. She is survived by her children, Linda Sidden, Shirley (Lee) Shore, Wayne Gunter (Angie Turner), Marie Melrose, Becky (Johnny) Mauldin, Brenda (Bobby) Settles, and Terry (Nadia) Gunter; daughter-in-law, Earlene Gunter Norman; 23 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Harris; a brother, David (Pam) Speer; and three sisters-in-law, Lib Speer, Christine Speer, and Bonnie Gunter. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Jones and Rev. Greg McEwen officiating. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with a dove release honoring Mrs. Gunter, her husband Lindsay and her son Steve. Mrs. Gunter will be available for public viewing Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Willowbrook Rehab Center, especially Jeanette Turner, for the loving care given to Mrs. Gunter.
