Doris Carol Haynes Holcomb, 99, passed away Saturday October 1, 2022 at SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville. She was born December 25, 1922 in Yadkin County. Her parents were the late James Haynes and Alma Bray Haynes. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oscar Marvin Holcomb and her brothers Claude and Tom Haynes; sisters Genie King and Barbara Swaim. She graduated from Jonesville High School. Mrs. Holcomb loved to garden, and loved working in and for her church, Mitchell’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughters Carol (W.C.) Brown and Cathy Wagoner; grandchildren Michael Brown, Amy (Jermiah) Beasley; Madelyn Anhui; great grandchild Maximus Beasley; sister in law Edna Mae Caldwell; brother in law Hugh (Janice) Holcomb; nieces Janet Brown, Peggy Reece, Tommie Jo Paul, Libby Haynes, Giny Haynes, Dawn Cheek, Johnsie Fletcher, Melissa Reece, and many others; nephews Ernie Holcomb (Beth), Mark Holcomb (Beth), Steve Holcomb (Judy), Joe Reece, and Jaron Sears, and many others. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Monday, October 3. 2022 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Mitchell’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, by Rev. Rebekah Ralph and Rev. Jermiah Beasley. The family would like to thank her very special caregiver Pattie (Grover) Delph, special friends Dennis and Martha Jessup for the loving care given to Mrs. Holcomb.
