Dorothy Mae Brown Carter

Dorothy Mae Brown Carter, 91, of East Bend, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Novant Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Yadkin County on June 14, 1927; daughter of the late Addison Leo Brown and Sattie Pearl Williams Brown. Dorothy was a devoted stay at home wife and a loving mother. She was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Friends Church, where she earned perfect attendance for over 50 years. She served in all areas of ministry. She loved to sing and was always there if the church doors were open. Her passion in life was spending time with her family and being a help to everyone in the community. She loved to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren play ball, sing, perform in church plays, walk up and down the road, or even work a puzzle. Her hobbies were watching the Atlanta Braves, cooking, working endlessly inside and outside the home. A celebration of life service will be conducted on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 11:00 am at Mt. Carmel Friends Church with Pastor Jeff Farmer and Rev. Larry Daniels Sr. officiating. She will lie in state from 9:00 am to 10:45 at the church, Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include her three daughters; Joyce C. Holden (Steve), Debbie C. Cave and Alice C. Carter; three grandchildren, Daniel Starling (Mandy), Tracy Farmer (Jeff) and Toni Moxley (Matt) and eight great grandchildren; Cody, Karson, Chase, Mattie, Katie Mae, Holden, Colton and Chance. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold P. Carter, two daughters; Elizabeth Ann Carter and Brenda C. Saunders and a brother, V. A. Brown. Memorials may be directed to Mt.
