Dorothy Lea Dickerson Dobbins

Dorothy Dickerson Dobbins, 86, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019. She was born October 16, 1932 in Yadkin County to the late Abraham and Oma Pinnix Dickerson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dobbins was proceeded in death by her husband John Henry Dobbins; brother AC Dickerson Jr. Surviving are her sons John (Rita) Dobbins, Dwaine Dobbins; grandchildren, Dawn (Josh) Casstevens, Carrie Dobbins; great-granddaughter Reece Casstevens; sister Beatrice Thomasson; brother Hubert Dickerson. She graduated from West Yadkin High School in 1951 where she enjoyed cheerleading. Mrs. Dobbins worked at Hanes Hosiery, Western Electric (AT&T), and several local group homes. She was a member of Boonville Baptist Church, Della Woodhouse Mission Group, Boonville Women’s Club and the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Dobbins loved traveling, working in her flower beds, and she was an excellent seamstress. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Gentry Family Funeral Service. Her funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 19, 2019, 2:00 PM at Boonville Baptist Church with Rev. John Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Boonville Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Rose Glen Manor in Wilkesboro and Woltz Hospice Home of Dobson for the exceptional care given to Mrs. Dobbins.
