Dorothy Catherine Fortune Hobson

Mrs. Dorothy Catherine Fortune Hobson, 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. She was born in Wytheville, Virginia on August 22, 1938 to Eugene and Dorothy Fortune. Dorothy loved shopping, doing puzzles, and playing bingo. She will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Roy Edward Lamb, Jr.; grandchild, Marcia Ann Lashmit; and three siblings, Arthur Fortune, Ellen Starnes, and Jane Del Guerico. She is survived by her daughters, Delores Ayers, Deborah Hutchens, and Doris Ezzell; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Sam (Rhonda) Fortune; and her beloved dog, Katie.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Believers Baptist Church with Pastor Matthew Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Yadkin Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Fortune family.
