Dorothy Baker Jester

Boonville Mrs. Dorothy Mae Baker Jester, 79, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Jester was born February 18, 1938 in Surry County to Marion and Mamie Cheek Baker. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Jester retired from Hanes Hosiery after 40 years of service and was a hard worker who took pride in what she did. She enjoyed watching sports, gardening, but most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jester was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ashley; and three brothers, Grady, George, and Orville Baker. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Donnie Monroe Jester; a son, Neil Jester; three grandchildren, Ethan, Natalie, and Trey Jester; three sisters, Pauline (Jerry) Mooney, Margaret (Herbie) Sneed, and Barbara St. John; one brother, Roy (Bonnie) Baker; one sister-in-law, Carolyn (Johnny) Myers; and one brother-in-law, Ronald M. Jester. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00AM, Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Gooden officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
