Dorothy Benton Kimmer

Kimmer Jonesville – Dorothy Marie Benton Kimmer, 92, passed away Monday, July 09, 2018. She was born September 29, 1925 in Surry County to the late Rovy and Janie Swaim Benton.  Dorothy was a devoted member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Dorothy retired from Eva Corporation in Elkin.  Her passion was sewing, traveling and spending time with family.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Howard Raeford Kimmer; three sisters; seven brothers; grandchild, Marty Williams.  Surviving are her children, Buddy (Linda) Kimmer of Winston-Salem, Rita (James) Williams of Jonesville, Lynn Kimmer of Jonesville, Sissy (Ricky) Gardner of Jonesville; grandchildren, James Williams Jr., Heather Haslett, Derek Kimmer, Jonathan Kimmer, Melissa (Tim) Bennett; great grandchildren, Courtney Williams, Kamden Kimmer, Raven Kimmer, Keaton Kimmer; sisters, Ivy Boyer, Phyllis Faw, Linda (James) Zachary; several nieces and nephews.  Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Shady Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Wesley Mosteller.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church.  The family would like to thank Yadkin Nursing Care Center for all the loving care given to Dorothy.  Memorials can be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church, 3808 Center Road, Boonville, NC  27011.  Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Kimmer family.  Online condolences can be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
