Boonville Mrs. Dorothy Jean Casstevens King, 87, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023 at Hugh Chatham Hospital. Mrs. King was born March 16, 1936 in Yadkin County to Edward and Grace Casstevens. She was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed watching Tarheels basketball. Mrs. King loved to crochet, quilt, can, cook for her family, eat Butterfingers, and do her word searches. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Franklin King; four grandchildren, Andrew Kevin King, Corben Scott King, Hayden Chase King, and Daisee Grace King; a daughter-in-law, Kathy King; and her sister, Martha Casstevens. Mrs. King is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Tammy King, Yadkinville; Mike King, of King; Tim and Valerie King, Brian and Sandy King, both of Yadkinville; Grandchildren, Raina (David) Lawson, Michelle King (Chris), Brandi Young, Randa (Andrew) Combs, Holly Linquist, Amy (Jared) Hawks, Dene'e Hardister, Mike King, Jr. (Darcie), Nathan King (Courtney Hondlik), Jonathan King, Katlyn King (Jason Jones), and special grandchild, Gretta King; her special K-9 companion, Pepper; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville with Rev. Don Hudson and Rev. Rebekah Ralph officiating. Burial will follow at Fall Creek Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston Salem. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Pruitt Healthcare and Rehab for the loving care given to Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the King family.
