Dorothy Coram Mathis

Mathis Boonville – Dorothy Coram Mathis, 97, passed away Thursday, January 04, 2018 at Yadkin Nursing Care Center. She was born July 18, 1920 to the late Lora Frances Hobson Coram and Jesse Johnson Coram.  She graduated from Boonville High School in 1939.  Dorothy married Lytle Paul Mathis on December 5, 1940.  She was a lifelong member of Boonville Baptist Church.  Dorothy retired from the Yadkin County School System.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lytle Paul Mathis; sisters, Arlis Jones, Frances Jones, Vera Jessup, Irene McLean; brothers, Ralph Coram, Fred Coram, and Edward Coram.  Surviving are her children, Patricia (Gary) Hemric, Brenda (Robert) Adams, Elaine (Richard) Poindexter, Walter (Laurie) Mathis; grandchildren, Bliss Hemric, Paula (Jay) Flanary, Susan (Allen) Fletcher, Richard (Leann) Poindexter, Jr. Maria (Chris) Vernon, Julie (Matt) Reinhardt, Greg (Whitney) Mathis; great grandchildren; Jack Flanary, Wes Fletcher, Reagan and Gavin Poindexter, Marissa and Garrett Vernon, Braeden, Eden and Mattox Reinhardt; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Edna Mae Wagoner, Josephine Mathis, Lou Coram.  Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2017 at Boonville Baptist Church by the Rev. John Brown and the Rev. Greg Mathis.  Burial will follow at Boonville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Boonville Baptist Church.  The family would like to thank Yadkin Nursing Care Center for all the love and care shown to Dorothy.
