Dorothy Ann Hoots McCollum

Pfafftown – Dorothy Ann Hoots McCollum, 91, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024.  She was born October 3, 1932 in Forsyth County to the late Guy Andrew Hoots and Jessie Lillian Russell Hoots.  She taught at Forbush Elementary School for 35 years before retiring.  Dorothy was a part-time choir director for over 50 years.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Coy Monroe McCollum.  She is survived by her children, Lou Ann (Carl) Dennison, David (Jamie) McCollum; grandchildren, Brittany (Dan) Darst, Kenton (Lauren) McCollum; great grandchildren, Luna Lorraine Darst, Raelyn Elizabeth Darst.   Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, February 19, 2024 at Enon Baptist Church by the Rev. Bill Messer.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 PM Monday at Enon Baptist Church.  Memorials can be made to Enon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 6321 Old US 421 Hwy East, East Bend, NC   27018.  Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the McCollum family.   Online condolences can be made at www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
