Mrs. Dovie Mae Cox Jenkins, age 73, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2020. She was born on October 23, 1947 in Surry County to the late Lester and Ida Mae Wilmoth Cox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Wayne Jenkins; a sister, Betty Mullis; her brothers, Jack, Jay, Ted, and Harold Cox; a great-grandchild, Adian Crawford. She is survived by her children, Donna (David) Henderson, Penny Darnell, Buddy (Gina) Jenkins, and Jamie Jenkins; grandchildren, Amber Henderson, Keith Henderson, Jessie Raye Darnell, Cody (Kirsten) Darnell, Brianna Jenkins, Tristan Jenkins, and Jamie Lee Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Mackayla Sullivan, and Alyssa Crawford; great great-grandchildren, Kayguun Jackson, Alayla Jackson, Malachi Crawford, and Ava Lynn Henderson; sister, Maxine (Carl) Glover; K9 companion, “Lilly”. Dovie and the love of her life, her husband Buddy celebrated over 50 years of marriage. She dearly loved her little dog “Lilly”, and Dovie always had a Pepsi with her. She had a great sense of humor, she always enjoyed chatting on the phone with her family and she always made a point to talk to everyone in the house when she called. Dovie cherished her daily conversations with her daughter Donna as they discussed what was going on with their “stories” soap operas. There will be a private graveside service at Crestwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. John Bowman officiating.
