Eddie O'Neal Newsome

Eddie O’Neal Newsome, born December 28, 1941, peacefully passed away on April 26, 2024. He was the beloved son of the late William Howard Newsome and Irene Moorefield Newsome. 

Eddie was a veteran of the Air Force and won the Alaska State Bowling Championship while serving. He enjoyed RV traveling and playing tennis. He also had a special bond with his furry cat companion, who brought him both frustration and deep affection. 

Eddie is survived by his loving sons, Bryan and his wife Jennifer, and Ashley and his wife Leslie, along with their children, Katelyn, Elliot, and Campbell. He was preceded in death by his former spouse, Nancy Harrison Taylor. He is also survived by his brother, Richard, and his wife Bonita, along with their children Rebecca and Thomas. 

Eddie will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the cherished memories he leaves behind. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Wednesday, May 1st, from 6-8 pm at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
