Edward Young Hardy

On January 5, 2021, Edward Young Hardy, loving husband and father of two children passed away at the age of 68 at Woltz Hospice home in Dobson. Eddie was born on August 7, 1952 in Surry County to Glen and Ruth Hardy. He grew up in the Fall Creek Community where he attended Fall Creek Elementary School and was a 1970 graduate of Forbush High School. He attended Appalachian State University prior to working at Unifi, where he was Director of Planning and Scheduling. Eddie was employed at Unifi for 42 and a half years before he retired and continued to support the company in a contract capacity for an additional two and a half years. He was a faithful member of Richmond Hill Baptist Church where he served as treasurer and Assistant Sunday School Director for many years. He was a member of Fall Creek Fire Department where he loyally served as secretary and treasurer for more than 30 years. Eddie was competitive playing basketball, golf and softball. He cherished time spent at the beach, with his grandchildren, and he enjoyed going on cruises with family and friends. Everyone knew him for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Ruth Hardy and his brother, William “Bill” Hardy. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, of 38 years, his children, Ashley Boles and husband, Adam, of Yadkinville, his son, Nicholas and wife, Casey of Lewisville, his grandchildren, Jackson and Addyson Boles and Lane Hardy. Also left to cherish his memory are his brother, Jim Hardy and wife Judy of East Bend, Sister, Mary Ruth Thomas and husband, Richard of Boonville, Sister-in-law, Anne Hardy of East Bend, and a special cousin, Linda Angell of Winston-Salem. He will be lovingly remembered by special nieces and cousins. Public viewing will be from 12pm-5pm on Wednesday 1/6/2021 and from 8am-12pm on Thursday 1/7/2021 at Gentry Family Funeral Service at East Bend. Eddie will lie in state from 1pm-2pm on Thursday 1/7/2021 at Richmond Hill Baptist Church in the family life center followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2pm officiated by Reverend Will Hamric.  Social distancing and wearing of masks is encouraged.
