Holcomb
Yadkinville- Edward Anthony Holcomb, 55, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Holcomb was born August 18, 1962 in Forsyth County to Glyn Edward and June Davis Holcomb. Edward was preceded in death by his father, Glyn Edward Holcomb on December 20, 2015 and by 3 sisters, Belinda Darlene, Stephanie June, and Patricia Ann Holcomb who died with Cystic Fibrosis. He attended Yadkinville Elementary School and was a graduate of Forbush High School Class of 1981. He was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and a member of Center United Methodist Church as long as his health permitted. Edward was bitten by a German Shepherd dog on his right arm. The bite severed the nerves in the right arm and hand. This destroyed the nerves and caused him much pain, which led to a diagnosis of RSDSA. He was a very good artist and continued to paint with his left hand. From the time he could hold a pencil or crayon, he loved drawing and painting. He decorated the home of his parents with many pictures drawn on the walls, and the ceiling of their bathroom with his mothers’ red lipstick. He worked with his father and grandfather in Holcomb’s Repair Shop, and with his parents on the Little Big Horn Cattle Farm. He was proud to deliver a calf when the cow was having trouble. He couldn’t stand to see a cow or animal suffer. Edward was a fun loving person and had a great sense of humor. He once told his mother that at his death he wished to be buried beside his Dad. It gives her peace to know that there is a great reunion in Heaven with God, his father, and sisters. He will be missed and the hope is to meet them again. Edward is survived by his mother, June Davis Holcomb, his sister, Karen Holcomb Casstevens; nephew Chad Casstevens, his wife, Jill, and their daughter, Ava Rose Casstevens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM Sunday at Center United Methodist Church. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM Sunday at Center United Methodist Church by Rev. Bill Foust. Burial will follow in the Center Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Center United Methodist Church, 1349 Center Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055 or to the RSDSA Foundation, PO Box 502 Milford, CT 06460-0502.
