Wishon Yadkinville – Eldon Wesley Wishon, 87, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018. He was born November 25, 1930 in Yadkin County to the late Robert Wesley Wishon and Mattie Peele Wishon. Eldon served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a medic in the 279 regiment 45 infantry division. He was awarded the bronze star for his serves during the Korean War. He worked for Steelman Milling Company in Courtney as a small motors mechanic for 40 years and was a tobacco and vegetables farmer. Eldon loved his country, outdoors, and gardening. He was known to friends and family as the tomato king. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Katie Shepherd; brothers, Earl Wishon, Fred Wishon. Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Peggy Reavis Wishon; children, Deborah Wishon, Robert Wesley (Lisa) Wishon, Vickie Wishon (Mark) Prevette; grandchildren, Garrett Wishon, Morgan Wishon, James Prevette, John Prevette; great grandchild, Lyndie Wishon; sisters, Louise (Paul) Martin, Lucille Holbrook; brothers, Basil (Doris) Wishon, R.C. (Brenda) Wishon; sister-in-law, Carolyn Bray; brother-in-law, Leo Reavis. His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Marvin Blackburn and the Rev. Noel Hawks. Burial will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and the N.C. National Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
