Elizabeth Louise Russell

Mrs. Elizabeth Louise Hinson Russell, 86, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018.  She was born on May 14, 1932 in Surry County to the late Brady Thomas and Leslie Estelle Hinson.  She graduated from Yadkin High School in 1950 and attended Bennett College in Greensboro, NC.  She retired from Yadkin County Department of Social Services.   She was married to Mr. David Jerome Russell, for 56 years, who preceded her in death.  She was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Yadkinville, NC where she served as Church Organist for over 5 decades.  She was named Mother of the Church, and also served on the Deaconess and Missionary boards.  She served as Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Stars, Yadkin Knights #612 of Yadkinville, NC and was also a member of the NAACP.  She leaves to cherish her memory two sons Tommy (Joan) of Winston-Salem, NC and Blaine (Lisa- Fiancée) of East Bend, NC., two daughters, Thomasena and Lori Russell of the home.  Her true loves 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a host of God children, nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, and many other relatives and dear friends, and children she "Adopted " throughout her life.  The family will celebrate her life with a musical tribute on Friday, September 14th at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at 7:00 pm.  And the family will receive friends Saturday, September 15th at Gentry Family Funeral Service from 1:00-2:00 pm and her funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm with Rev. Johnny E. Scott, Officiant and Rev. Thomas M. Williams, Jr., Eulogist. Burial will follow at PGBC Cemetery. Online condolences may be directed to www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
