Hamptonville- Mrs. Ellen Byrnes Hemric, 73, of Dot’s Trail passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born August 1, 1944 in Washington, D.C. to the late Paul and Mary Fisher Byrnes. The Byrnes Family moved to Winston-Salem when Ellen was a child. She grew up in Winston-Salem was a graduate of Hanes High School, retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Tobaccoville with over 24 years of service, and was active in church. She was an avid reader, loved camping, enjoyed her canine companion, Cassie, but to her family, she was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Carole Stewart. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Donald Lee Hemric; her 3 sons, James Gray Hemric, Donald Lee (Carolynn) Hemric, Jr., Scott William (Kelda) Hemric; 6 grandchildren, Nathaniel (Liz) Hemric, Nick (Brittni) Hemric, Joshua Hemric, Amanda Hemric, Wesly Hemric, Noah Hemric; and 3 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will be 1:00 PM Thursday at the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Roger Elmore and Rev. Danny Hemric. Interment will follow in Maranatha Baptist Church Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
