Elon Myers Ireland

At 1:30 PM, March 19^th, 2024 Elon Elizabeth Myers Ireland, 97 years old, received her home going to Heaven. It was all possible because of her faith in a living Savior Jesus Christ. She was born March 3, 1927 in Greensboro, NC to William Chester and Winnie Weatherman Myers. Mrs. Ireland was a member of Berean Baptist Church, where she was a charter member. She was saved and joined Shiloh Baptist Church when she was 13 years old. She enjoyed her church work for many years and conducted the first VBS in 8 churches. She graduated from West Yadkin High School in 1944 and Mars Hill college in 1946. She married George Franklin Ireland December 21, 1946. They owned and operated Ireland Travel Inc. for 35 years. She enjoyed traveling, and she visited all 50 states. Elon enjoyed crocheting for which she won a blue ribbon at the Dixie Classic Fair when she was in her nineties. She loved playing bingo at the Magnolias and saved all of the quarters she won for the auction sale. When there was nothing else to do, she loved large print word searches. Mrs. Ireland was preceded by her parents, and her husband George Ireland on December 24, 2011. She is survived by her children, Joel (Brenda) Ireland, Hamptonville, Samuel (Faye) Ireland, Dobson; grandchildren, Gina (Buddy) Jenkins, Kevin (Erica) Ireland, Marcus Ireland, Amber (Jared) Hurt; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Nicholas Ireland, Brianna and Tristan Jenkins, Elizabeth, Cheryl, Ty, and Kaitlyn Shinault, and Maddie and A.J. Hurt. Brother-In-Law, Charles Gray Ireland of Jonesville. The family will receive friends, 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM in the Gentry Family Chapel with Pastor David Pattersol and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Yadkin Nursing Care Center and the Magnolia’s for the loving care to Elon for many years.
