Mr. Flay Burley Renegar, 89, of East Bend, died Saturday, May 28, 2022. He was born on January 21, 1933 in Yadkin County to George Frank and Ruby Caroline Renegar Renegar. Flay was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War. He attended Richmond Hill Baptist Church whenever his health permitted. He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. Flay retired from Hanes Knitting in 1995 with 34 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Lineberry Renegar; his son, Michael Flay Renegar; and his siblings, Ruth Hanes, Lacey Hutchens, Frank Renegar, Doc Renegar, G.H. Renegar, Roy Renegar, Joe Renegar, and Lonnie Renegar.
He is survived by special nieces, Donna (Gorrell) Cranfill and Wanda (Larry) Johnson; and special friends, Steven and Sara Nichols.
His graveside service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Richmond Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Seth Cranfill officiating with full military honors conducted by Yadkin VFW Post #10346 and the NC Memorial Honor Guard. His body may be viewed anytime on Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM at Gentry Funeral Service in East Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the W.G. “Bill” Hefner VAMC, 1601 Brenner Ave., Salisbury, NC 28144. Online condolences may be made at gentryfuneralservice.com.
