Yadkinville – Franklin “Hank” Delano Durham, 72, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023. He was born May 22, 1951 in Surry County to the late Albert Bert Durham and Pernie Wagoner Durham. Hank retired from RJ Reynolds after 36 years of service. He loved racing, wrestling, RFD Country music, and gospel music. In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling, loved working outside, and going to church as long as his health permitted. He taught most, if not all of the children, grandchildren, and extended family children how to swim. He strived to help anyone and everyone. To know him was to love him. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Marie Wood; brothers, Tuscon Durham, Charles Durham, Jasper Durham. Surviving is his wife, Thelma Bates Durham; children, Candus (Kevin) Lineberry, Johnny (Tammy) Brock; grandchildren, Heather Brock, Zackary Brock, Bryceson Durham, Bryttney Lineberry, Willie Brock; great grandchild, Kashton Durham; bonus children, Tyler Bates, Shelby Bates; brother, Lester (Wanda) Durham; special niece, Vickie Teresa Ketner and several other nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Gospel Chapel by the Rev. Connor Lambert, the Rev. Paul Stewart, and Brother Bill Bates. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
