Mr. Freddie Garnell Speaks, Sr., 60, of Myers Road passed away at his home. He was born February 24, 1957 in Yadkin County to the late Thomas Leroy and Gracie Graham Speaks. Mr. Speaks was formerly employed with Lowe’s Distribution before becoming disabled. He loved fishing, family vacations, and spending time with his family especially eating seafood with his Mother-in-Law. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, James Davis Speaks, Marvin Speaks, and Hosey L. Speaks. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Bren Dobson Speaks, of the home; a son, Fredy G. Speaks, Jr. and wife, Raynika; his granddaughter whom he adored, Essence, all three of Mocksville; sisters, Jean Glenn and JoAnn Valentine, both of Winston-Salem; brothers, Tommie Speaks of Winston-Salem, Gray (Gladys) Speaks, Yadkinville; his mother-in-law, Katie Lee Dobson; 3 brothers-in-law; 2 sisters-in-law;2 dear friends, Phil and Kelly Wheeler, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM Monday August 21, 2017 at Gentry Family Funeral Service. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted 1:00 PM Monday August 21, 2017 in the Gentry Family Chapel with Rev. Tracy Lee Dobson and Rev. Myrtle Dobson both officiants of the service.
