George Washington Cave

Dobson Mr. George Washington Cave, 94, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at Pruitt Healthcare. Mr. Cave was born November 29, 1923 in Surry County to William Harrison and Edna Hodge Cave. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cave was preceded in death by his first wife, Callie Hicks Cave; four sisters, Naomi Cave, Myrtle Fowler, Margie Joyce, and Ruby Mason; and three brothers, Jim Cave, Leo Cave, and Benny Cave. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Dorothy Branch Cave; three sons, Bill Cave, Steve (Ellen) Cave, and Eddie (Kathy) Cave; step children, Kathy(Richard) Pegram, Pat (Mickey) Brooks, Tony (Patsy) Payne, Jody (Mercie) Payne; grandchildren, Dennis (Cathy) Cave, Dale (Spring) Cave, Stephanie Cave , Samuel Hawks, and Hannah (Bryan) Paris; great grandchildren, Bishop and Bennett Paris, Dustin Warden, and Brianna Wilkins; several step grandchildren; and a sister, Annie Leatherman. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00PM, Monday, January 8, 2018 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville with Bro. Mickey Brooks and Bro. Josh Blevins officiating. Burial will follow at North Oak Ridge Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
