George Hassell Thompson

Thompson    East Bend- Mr. George Hassell Thompson, 79, of East Bend, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019. He was born in Forsyth County on October 10, 1939 to the late George Harold and Lucie Etta Harold Thompson. He was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Loretta Jones Thompson and a daughter, Sheila Ann Thompson. Surviving are his children, Loretta Thompson (Wayne) Matthews and Deborah Thompson (Joey) Simmons; two  grandchildren, Abby Matthews (Quermit) Salas and Wesley (Kayla) Matthews. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Watts officiating. Memorials may be made to Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 4332 Mt. Bethel Church Road, East Bend, NC 27018 or to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
