YADKINVILLE- Mr. Glenn Hugh Epley, 81, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at his home. He was born July 10, 1939 in Davidson County to the late Carl and Nettie Epley. Mr. Epley was retired with 30 years of service, and received several awards, from the NC Department of Correction. He also worked several years with the Davidson County Sheriffs Office. He was an avid Duke Basketball Fan, faithful member of South Oak Ridge Baptist Church, and was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to his family. He enjoyed the time he spent with each of them especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his 3 brothers. Surviving are his beloved wife of 59 years, Carol Hunt Epley; his children, Glenda (Mark) Myers, Dean Epley, and Paige (Chris) Hauser; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Foster, Andrew (Laura) Myers, Katie (Brantley) Shanks; Connor Epley; great-grandchild, Oaklynn Shanks; his brother, Paul (Barbara) Epley; and a sister, Doris Pickett. Mr. Epley will be available for public viewing from 2-5 PM Thursday and Friday from 8-1 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His graveside service will be 2:00 PM Friday at South Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery by Pastor Frankie Matthews and Rev. Chris Hauser. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Oak Ridge Baptist Church Youth Fund, 1336 Lone Hickory Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
