Grady Lee Hennings

East Bend Mr. Grady Lee Hennings, 85, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 at his home. Mr. Hennings was born January 1, 1933 in Yadkin County to Grady and Lesta Cornelius Hennings. He was a member of Stony Knoll United Methodist Church and a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War. Mr. Hennings was a member of the American Legion Post in East Bend. He retired from Western Electric and enjoyed hunting and gardening. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hennings was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Myers Hennings; and a brother, Paul Hennings. He is survived by two children, Russell (Margaret) Hennings and Stephanie (Peter) Bynum; grandchildren, Cara (Joseph) Powell, Megan Hennings, Molly Bynum, and Kate Bynum; two sisters, Ruth Wooten and Ruby Murphy; two brothers, Alvis (Jane) Hennings and Joe (Annette) Hennings; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00AM, Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Stony Knoll UMC with Rev. David Blankenberg officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and NC National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00AM, prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice. 101 Hospice Lane Winston Salem, NC 27103 or to Stony Knoll UMC Building Fund 2340 Flint Hill Rd East Bend, NC 27018.
