Harold Dean Chandler

East Bend – Harold Dean Chandler, 71, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 6, 2021. He was born August 23, 1949 in Yadkin County to the late Gurney and Esther Hawks Chandler. Dean was the founder of Believers Baptist and was their Pastor for over 15 years. He loved his church and his church family. Dean loved spending time with his family and especially his grandson, Ethan. Judena looked after Dean here on earth and now Rebecca will look after him in Heaven. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Dean Chandler Waddell; grandson, Jaxon Rhett Waddell; sisters, Gaye Wallace, Odessa Sizemore, Dorothy Steelman, Joyce Chandler; brothers, Roger Chandler, Ray Chandler, James Chandler. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Judy Smitherman Chandler; Daddy’s little girl, Judena (Steven) Hutchens; Pa’s little boy, Ethan Hutchens; brothers, Luther Chandler, Mack (Beverly) Chandler; he loved his mother-in-law, Stacy Smitherman; and several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Believers Baptist Church by the Rev. Earl Blackburn, Dr. Johnny Shore, and the Trustees of the Church. Burial will follow at East Bend Baptist Cemetery with full military honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service on Tuesday at Believers Baptist Church. Dean will lie in-state on Monday from 12:00 – 4:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend. Memorials can be made to Believers Baptist Church, 601 Joy Street, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
