Harold Gray "Happy" Matthews

Harold Gray “Happy” Matthews, 59, went to be with the Lord on January 23, 2018. Happy loved the Lord. He also loved his family, loved spending time outdoors, and the simple things in life. Happy was preceded in death by his parents Paul P. Matthews and Gaynell D. Matthews; sister Wanda Kay Matthews Hutchens, and brother Paul David Matthews. Surviving are his loving wife of 38 years Becky Carter Matthews of the home; three daughters Jeanna Simmons, Valerie Hughes, and Christina (Chris) Henning; three grandchildren Carlisle Hughes, Autumn Hughes, and Gabriel Henning; sister Ann Matthews and several extended family and friends, that he loved and cherished. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday January 28, 2018 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Happy’s funeral will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday January 29, 2018 at Mt. Carmel Friends Church by the Pastor Jeff Farmer and Rev. Chad Shoaf. He will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
