Harold Gray McKnight

Harold Gray McKnight, age 83, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021. He was born August 28, 1937 in Yadkin County to the late John Miles McKnight, and Ina Ellavene Shore McKnight. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Hartman McKnight; a sister, Kathleen McKnight, and two brothers, John Lewis McKnight, and Howard Ray McKnight. He is survived by his daughter, Laura M. (Ralph) Darnell; step-daughter, Sherry Smith; sister, Louise (Larry) Chappell; brother, Robert Felix McKnight; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Harold worked in the family business of John M McKnight & Sons Pallet Company for many years. He was also a truck driver until he was 78 years old, having drove for Hennis Trucking, Carolina Trucking, and Christie Trucking. He enjoyed traveling, collecting Peanuts Cartoon characters, and model farm tractors. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Advance United Methodist Church Cemetery. A graveside service will be 11:00 AM in the church cemetery following the visitation with Rev. Larry Thompson officiating. The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Willowbrook Rehabilitation Center for the loving care shown to Harold.
