HAMPTONVILLE- Mr. Harold Samuel Wagoner, Sr, 90, of Swaims Church Road passed away peacefully Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born January 20, 1931 in Yadkin County to the late Richard Harold and Virginia Mae Groce Wagoner. Mr. Wagoner worked for several years with Chatham Manufacturing, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., Sunbeam, Wall Rope Works, as an electrician, and as a tobacco farmer. He attended Forsyth Tech in Winston-Salem and served with the US Army. Mr. Wagoner was a faithful member of Swaims Baptist Church where he served the church as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and was on the Cemetery Committee. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his 2 sisters, Lorene Swicegood, Kathleen Rogers; and by 2 special uncles, Henry “Tuck” Groce and Hurley Wagoner. Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years, Doris Thompson Wagoner, of the home; 3 children, Kimberly Wagoner (Richard) Wilson, Reidsville; Dawn (the late Kenny) Hardwick, Hamptonville; Harold Samuel (Tiffany) Wagoner, Jr., Hamptonville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12-1:30 PM Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Swaims Baptist Church. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM Wednesday in Swaims Baptist Church by Rev. Gordon Macemore. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. Mr. Wagoner will also be available for public viewing from 12-5 PM Tuesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Little Mountain Road in Jonesville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to either Swaims Baptist Church, Swaims Church Road, Hamptonville, NC 27020 or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 201 Technology Drive, Mt. Airy, NC.
