Mr. Harvey Lee Bowman (Pa Harvey), 77, saw the face of his Lord on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at SECU Hospice Care Center.  Harvey was born on January 19, 1944, in Forsyth County to Reba Newman Bowman and Arthur Alexander Bowman. He became a Christian at the age of 14 and always had his family in church.  He was a beloved and faithful member of Peace Haven Baptist Church.

Pa Harvey, as he was affectionately called, was an avid hunter and fisherman, but his greatest joy was his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He worked for RJR Archer for 35 years and he was known for his storytelling, his sense of humor and his famous “turkey call”.  Pa Harvey was a very generous and giving man and he will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents and his stepmother, Johnnie Mae Bowman, Pa was preceded in death by a daughter, Inge Parker; a sister, Virginia Kirby; a brother, Dewey Bowman; and a brother-in-law, Stephen Jumper. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 56 years, Kathryn Jumper Bowman; his beloved children, Greta (Jeff) Shuler and Jon (Rebekah) Bowman; grandchildren, Savanna Parker, Andrew Parker, Jason (Desiree) Shuler, Justin (Kayla) Shuler, Jordan Shuler, Jonathan Bowman II and Jared (fiancé Mick Moxley) Bowman; great grandchildren, Ethan, Zoe, and Sofia Shuler and soon-coming baby Knox Shuler; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Jumper; a sister, Delores Yokely; a brother, Joseph (Lois) Bowman; a son-in-law, Cregg (Karen) Parker; sisters-in-law, Dianne (Gary) Everhart and Cynthia (Doug) Donley; and his special K-9 companion, Mister Darcy.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am, Saturday October 23, 2021, at Peace Haven Baptist Church, with Pastor Jon Bowman, Pastor Jason Shuler, and Rev. Jeff Shuler officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery and the family will receive friends following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, Att: SECU Hospice Care Center, 401 Technology Dr. Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkinville for the loving care given to our cherished and unforgettable Pa Harvey.
