Mr. Herman Wade Brown, 81, of Sugartown Road in Yadkinville, North Carolina, departed this life peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Born on November 17, 1943, in Yadkin County, he was the son of the late Jesse Wade and Annie Pearl Hobson Brown.
Herman was a devoted and active member of Union Cross Friends Meeting, where he tirelessly dedicated his time and talents to help others, embodying the spirit of community service that defined his life. A true lover of the outdoors, he found joy in farming, gardening, and spending cherished moments with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom they affectionately referred to as "Pa."
In his younger years, Herman delighted in dancing with his beloved wife, Janice, forging friendships that would last a lifetime during their adventures camping and boating. A man of simple pleasures, he was proud of his John Deere tractor and steadfastly drove his Ford truck, embodying the hardworking spirit of his generation.
Herman dedicated over 30 years of his life to Roadway Express, a tenure that shaped not only his career but also his deep-rooted commitment to service. For the last 12 years of his career, he found fulfillment as a bus driver for the Yadkin County School System, where he continued to make a positive impact on the lives of children.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Janice Moxley Brown; daughters, Jamie Brown (Paul, Jr.) Wooten and Jennifer Brown (Kenneth) Eller; grandchildren, Courtney Wooten (Jacob) Trivette, Chelsey Wooten (Nathan) Hennings, Cody (Christina) Eller, and Callie (Branden) Adair; great-grandchildren, Ben (Emma) Trivette, Brady Trivette, Bellamy Trivette, Skyler Eller, Rylie Eller, Levi Eller, Mayleigh Imbler, Chase Adair, and Adrian Adair. He also looked forward to welcoming a great-great-grandchild due in March. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Jean Willard and Shirley Brown McCollum, as well as his great-great-granddaughter, Paisley Anne Trivette.
A celebration of Herman's life will be held at Union Cross Friends Meeting in Yadkinville, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and the profound impact he had on those around him. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM on Tuesday at Union Cross Friends Meeting. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM on Tuesday in the church with Rev. Jared Warden and Rev. Robin Dixon officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for all their loving care over the past few months. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Mountain Valley Hospice, 516 Hawthorne Drive, Yadkinville, NC 27055 or to Union Cross Friends Cemetery Fund, 2533 Union Cross Church Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
