Ida Mae Ward Whitaker

  Ida Mae Ward Whitaker, 79, of Jonesville, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Chatham Nursing center. She was born in Yadkin County on February 2, 1939 daughter of the late Duke Ward and Pearl Martin Ward. She was a caring person, always saw the good in everybody. A celebration of life service will be conducted on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11:30 AM at Gentry Family Funeral Chapel in Jonesville with Rev. Sister Rebecca Gentry officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am til time of service and after the service. Survivors include her son, Benny Lee Ward, Sr. (Barbara Faulkner), eight grandchildren, Benny Ward, Jr., Alltrice Ward, Octavas Wade, Robert Wade, Quina Wade, Margert Todd, Niccole Todd and Jarande Wade, and 44 great grandchildren, also a host of numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Ida was also preceded in death by her 4 sisters: Vinnie Wood, Margie Thomas, Dorothy Brown and Catheryn Gentry and 3 brothers; Charlie Martin, Earl Ward and Wille Paul Foster.
