Irene Ashburn Swisher Crabb

Hamptonville – Irene Ashburn Swisher Crabb, 103, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025. She was born January 13, 1922 in Yadkin County to the late James Wright Ashburn and Flora Holcomb Ashburn. Irene retired from Sunbeam after several years of service. She also worked with the Grandparents association at Ronda/Clingman Elementary School. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, John Swisher, 2nd husband, Barney Crabb; daughter, Margaret Swisher; step-children, Ruby Crouse, Ruth Ham, Rosalee Johnson, Virginia Ashburn, Dean Crabb; grandchildren, Michael Gregory, Angela Mitchell. She is survived by her children, Anna Dean Thompson, James (Margaret) Swisher, Carol Souther; step-child, Vaughn Crabb; grandchildren, Harold (Deanna) Swisher, Darrell (Shannon) Thompson, Doyle (Paula) Thompson, Regina (Wayne) DeWitt, John Wayne (Wilma) Gregory, Arnold (Rhonda) Souther, Patricia Ann (Dave) Goodwin; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and several step grandchildren, several step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 14, 2025 at Branon Friends Meeting Church by the Rev. Bob Edwards and the Rev. Steve Hedgecock. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Friday at Branon Friends Meeting Church. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Crabb family.
