Irene Groce Chappell

   Irene Groce Chappell, 92, of Hamptonville passed away Tuesday August 21, 2018 at Elkin Assisted Living. She was born in Yadkin County, NC on March 28, 1926: daughter of the late Solomon Groce and Nellie Gray Groce. Mrs. Chappell was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Hamptonville and loved sewing while taking care of her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Chappell and a brother, Darrell Groce.  She is survived by her two sons, Dale Chappell (Pam) and Perry Chappell (Minnie); three grandsons; Chad (Tracy), Brett and Ryan and a sister, Geraldine Swaim. A celebration of life service will be conducted at the graveside on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Mountain View Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Tim Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. Memorials may be directed to Mountain View Baptist Church, 1232 Mountain View Church Rd, Hamptonville, NC 27020 and a special thanks to the staff of Elkin Assisted Living for the care of Mrs. Chappell.
