James "Frank" Franklin Fowler

Dobson Mr. James Franklin Fowler “Frank”, age 56 of Dobson, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at his home. Mr. Fowler was born on March 21, 1962 in Surry County to James Aubrey Fowler and the late Alice Faye Smith Fowler. He grew up on a small tobacco farm where his dedicated work ethic was established. He graduated from Surry Central High School in 1981and attended Surry Community College later earning his refrigeration license and his electrical license. He began his career with Frank Welch and Sons before accepting a position with Salem Electric where his most recent assignment has been a subcontractor for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem. He is past owner of Fowler Electric. Mr. Fowler enjoyed fishing and working on his farm. He was a former Cub Scout leader for Pack 529. He married the love his life and best friend, Sharon Coe Fowler on August 3, 1985 and enjoyed a loving marriage for 32 years. They were blessed with an adored daughter, Kayla Marie Fowler of Knoxville, Tennessee and a loving son, James Cory Fowler of Charlotte, and his canine companion Ollie. Mr. Fowler was a dedicated member and deacon of Fairview Church of Christ. He had a heart for helping others. Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by his mother, his maternal grandparents, Otto and Elsie Smith, his paternal grandparents, Coley and Marie Fowler, and a brother-in-law, Jeff Coe. He is survived by his wife, two children, two sisters, Tammy Mabe (Tim) and Carol Hole (Steve), one brother, Dale Fowler, his father-in-law, Bill Coe, who was an inspiration throughout his life, two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Van Kathy and Darryl, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Frank and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was always a tremendous source of strength, wisdom and compassion for his family and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday at Fairview Church of Christ from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. The Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 PM at the church. Memorials may be made to Fairview Church of Christ, 793 Wilmoth Road Dobson, NC 27017.
