James Hoyt Reece

Boonville – James “Hoyt” Reece, 91, completed his journey here on earth Saturday, March 9, 2024.  He was born February 14, 1933 in Yadkin County where he lived his entire life.   Hoyt was a graduate of Guilford College.   He retired from Yadkin County Schools after 36 ½ years of service.  Hoyt served as a Boonville Town Commissioner.  It was a joy for him to restore tractors and participate in antique tractor shows.  Hoyt was full of energy and had a zest for life that brought light to those who knew him.   He lived a life of integrity with a distinct personality that will be missed by those that called him a husband, father, or friend, always ready for life’s next adventure.  Hoyt was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah Mae Reece.   He is survived by his beloved wife Pattie Mauldin Reece; children, Lucinda Reece of Wilmington, NC, Jason Reece of Charlotte, NC, and Debra Reece Simons; grandchildren, Ali McGhee, Barclay McGhee; and a great grandchild, Elswyth; and several cousins and friends.  His funeral service will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville.  Burial will follow at Boonville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.  Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Reece family.  Online condolences can be made at www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
