James "Jay" Roy Collins, Sr.

James “Jay” Roy Collins, Sr., 79, of Boonville, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at his home. Jay was born in Patrick County, VA on March 18, 1939: son of the late Joseph Gidden Collins and Mintoria Craddock Collins. He loved riding his grandchildren on his four-wheeler all over the farm, loved gardening and farming and anything outside. A celebration of life service will be conducted on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10:30am at Gentry Family Funeral Chapel in Yadkinville with his brother, Joseph Collins, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Union Hill United Methodist Church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:30 at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his three children, Rebecca Boyer, Belinda Salzar (Arturo) and James “Slim” Collins (Michelle); 5 grandchildren, James Joseph, Adriana, Efrain, Amanda and Abigail; 8 great grandchildren and a great- great grandchild; 6 sisters, Clara Hall, Susie King, Naomi Hall (Harvey), Peggy Walker, Linda Edwards and Myrtle Love (Davis); a brother, Joseph Collins, Jr. (Brenda); and 2 special neighbors, Jerry Murphy and Eddie Keen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lucille Moser Collins; 5 sisters; 2 brothers; and 1 grandchild.
