Yadkinville-  Mr. James W. “Jim” McCann, 96, of Country Club Road passed away peacefully Monday, May 8, 2023 at his home.  He was born September 6, 1926 in Caswell County, NC to the late Willie J. and Alma L. McCann.  Mr. McCann was a graduate of Broad Street High School in Burlington, NC.  He was retired from A.T.& T. as a Supervisor and a faithful member of Forbush Baptist Church.  Mr. McCann had been a member of the Yadkin Country Club, Telephone Pioneers of America, Yadkin Seniors Golf Association, he loved Duke University Athletics, and was an avid sports fan playing in several different leagues of softball, basketball, and bowling.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Frances McClure McCann; his second wife, Nancy Williams York McCann; his sister, Helen Wright; and his brothers, Thomas McCann and Willie J. McCann, Jr.  Surviving are his son, Kelly McCann and wife, Cindy of Yadkinville; his grandchildren, Thomas James (Tiffany) Odom, Raven Druzell Odom, Blake Shawn (Allie) McCann, Blair Renee (Chris) Bobbitt; numerous great-grandchildren; Step-children, Robert York, Ruth Ann Baity, Wayne York all of Yadkinville; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Harris G. McCann and Gary W. McCann.  The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 PM Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.  His funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:30 PM Saturday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Joe Souther.  Interment will follow in the Forbush Baptist Church Cemetery.
