James "J.R." Roy Rutledge

East Bend – James “J.R.” Roy Rutledge, 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 13, 2021. He was born November 21, 1935 in Yadkin County to the late Evan Monroe Rutledge and Minnie Carter Rutledge. J.R. enjoyed the outdoors and spending time on his back porch. He loved working in the community and loved his chickens and birds. J.R. retired after years of working with different sign companies. He was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Friends Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Thurmond Rutledge, Clifton Rutledge, two infant brothers; sister, Bernice Casto, and Cleta Rutledge. Surviving are his children, Wanda Ann (Michael) Sizemore, James Gray (Judy) Rutledge, Debbie (Tim) Matthews, Keith Rutledge; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Paul Rutledge; life long friend, Kathleen Rutledge; and several nieces, nephews, and other family friends. His graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Mt. Carmel Friends by the Rev. Jeff Farmer. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am Wednesday at Mt. Carmel Friends. Memorials can be made to Mt. Carmel Friends Church, Building Fund, 3417 Mt.
