James Alvis Norman

September 17, 1965 — May 9, 2022

James Alvis Norman, 56, of East Bend, NC passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 9, 2022 while doing what he loved. James was born in Yadkin County to Gordan “Allan” Norman and Nancy Norman Norman on September 17, 1965. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and mother, Nancy. Surviving are his father, Allan Norman, his wife of nearly 36 years, Robin Dinkins Norman, his two children, Sheena (Ricky) Leonard and Daniel (Kailey) Norman, his four beautiful granddaughters, Peyton, Laura, Kymber and Kenzie, his two siblings, Bonita (Steve) Walker and Rex (Gayle) Norman, and honorary siblings, Lori (Tommy) Lashmit and Lisa (Josh) Vanni, along with their children and grandchildren. James also left behind numerous close friends, extended family members and loved ones. James was known for his smile, impeccable sense of humor and the ability to befriend all he met. He worked for Norman’s Grading with his father and brother providing heavy equipment services for a multitude of community members. James also served his community through the East Bend Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. James loved fishing, metal work, mudbogs, go-cart races, tractor pulls, and pretty much every outdoor adventure there was to do. He was also a long-time member of New Home United Methodist Church. However, his greatest joy was found in the time he spent with family. He adored his wife and together they instilled faith and love into their children and granddaughters. James could often be found snuggling a granddaughter or enjoying some afternoon pool time with them. He loved those precious girls, their parents and his wonderful wife to the greatest of his ability. He was truly the absolute best. The family will have a private columbarium service at New Home UMC at a later date. And per James’ expressed wishes, there will not be a visitation or funeral but a CELEBRATION of LIFE with food, family and fellowship for any and all who knew and loved him on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 5-7pm at the East Bend Community Ballfield that is located behind the senior center (inclement weather will move the festivities into the senior center). In lieu of flowers, memorials or donations in James’ honor can be made to GOD’s Garage (P.O. Box 384, East Bend, NC 27018) or New Home UMC (3340 Smithtown Road, East Bend, NC 27018). Online condolences may be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com. Gentry Family Funeral Service of East Bend is serving the Norman family.
