Reece East Bend – James Robert Reece, 80, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018. He was born December 16, 1937 in Yadkin County to the late Elmer Floyd Reece and Addie Simmons Reece. James was a barber at Reece’s Barber shop for over 45 years, but had to give it up as his health started to decline. It was more than just a job, it was his other family. He always enjoyed talking to his customers and spending time with them. He was a very active member at Union Cross Friends Church; he served on several committees at the church and sung in the choir. James enjoyed being around his family, he was a loving husband, father, and pop. His grandchildren were the love of his life and always enjoyed spending time with them. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, John Reece; niece, Selina Reece. Surviving is his wife, Josie Sue Norman Reece; children, Jeff (Malisa) Reece, Jill (Byron) Chapman; grandchildren, Hunter Chapman, Mallory Chapman, Anthony Reece, Matthew Reece, Lakin (Rickey) Boger, Aubrey Edwards, Kodi Edwards; and six great grandchildren. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Union Cross Friends Church by the Rev. Robin Dixon, the Rev Nelson Puffenbarger, and Mike Norman. Burial will follow at the church with full military honors by the VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Memorials can be made to SECU Hospice Center, 243, N.
