James "Roger" Lee Combs

Roger Combs entered the gates of Heaven on January 07, 2022. Mr. Combs was born January 22nd, 1945 in Carroll County, VA, to James Combs and Mandy Hawks Combs. In addition to his parents, Mr. Combs is preceded in death by his daughter, Melinda Combs Pennington and his 2 brothers, Dale Combs and Ed Combs. Roger is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shelia Ann Jarvis Combs, 2 daughters Diane (Ronnie) Hutchens of Dobson, NC, JoAnn (Oscar) Gilley of Boonville, NC. 7 grandchildren, Christopher "Cricket" Wood, Jocie Wood, Kristen Snow, Kendall Snow, Adam Deyab, John Gilley and Zaina Deyab. 2 sisters, Barbara (JB) Cornett of Cleveland, NC, Nancy Cannon of Gresham, SC, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Combs was a hard-working man. He was the type of person who was always willing to give you the shirt off his back if needed. Roger drove a tractor trailer and milked cows for 20 or more years. He also drove a forklift for Unifi before retiring. In addition, Roger loved his family the most. His wife and him had 47 wonderful years of marriage together with 3 daughters. Roger enjoyed fishing when he was younger and later in life when he was able. He loved telling his tractor trailer driving stories with his brothers. He loved his grandchildren, each and every grandchild had a special meaning to him. Most of all, his youngest, "little bug." All 7 grandchildren brightened his day. James Roger Lee Combs will be missed dearly. But most importantly, our sweet "Pawpaw," will forever be loved by his family. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Holbrook officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
