James Gray Zachary, 88, of Boonville, died Wednesday, March 22, 2023. He was born in Yadkin County on January 9, 1935 to Gurney and Mabel Phillips Zachary. Mr. Zachary was a member of Charity Baptist Church and was a retired poultry farmer. He enjoyed doing anything outdoors such as yardwork and landscaping. He enjoyed old car shows and Nascar races. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard Zachary; and his sisters, Polly Cochran, Doris Morrison, and Winnie Speaks.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Benton Zachary; his son, Mitchell Gray Zachary; grandchildren, Michalla Hayes, Madison Zachary, and Autumn Zachary; a great granddaughter, Madilyn Miller; and a sister, Betty Jackson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 2:00PM at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville with Rev. Marty Nixon officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 243 Lee Ave., Yadkinville, NC 27055.
