Janet Brown Choplin

Mrs. Janet Brown Choplin, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 31, 2024. She was born in Surry County on July 12, 1949 to N.D. and Nola Brown. Janet was a member of Union Cross Friends Church and was attending Harmony Grove Friends Meeting as well. She was a very active member and attendee, and truly loved both churches. Janet retired from the Board of Elections, where she served as the director. She enjoyed reading, Hallmark movies, and music, especially by Elvis. Janet loved spending time with all of her family and going on outings with either her family or friends. She thoroughly loved to travel. Janet never met a stranger, and if you ever met her, you wouldn’t forget her. She carried many great virtues, as she was the most thoughtful, considerate, precious, compassionate, joyful, tenderhearted, and truly full of love. Janet was a treasure to know and will be so missed by all who had the special privilege to know her. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Wesley Choplin. She is survived by three daughters, Stephanie (Ron) Osborne, Amy (Stephen) Mason, and April (Kip) Miller; grandchildren, Ericka (Jeffrey) Beall, Jerrad Chilton, Brett Mason (Sophie Lanier), Noah Miller, Kaleb Miller, and Eden Miller; great-grandson, Weslee Beall; brother, Rev. Vernon Brown; and aunt, Edna Jane Roof.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 4, 2024 at Union Cross Friends Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Cross Friends Church, 2533 Union Cross Church Rd, Yadkinville, NC 27055 and Harmony Grove Friends Meeting, 1400 W Main St, Yadkinville, NC 27055 . Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Choplin family.
