Janet Rose Brannon Salmons, 76, of Yadkinville, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Novant Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Janet was born to Charles Davis Brannon and Jessie Ruth Brown Brannon on January 30, 1949. She was preceded in death by her parents, Davis and Jessie Ruth, her older brother Larry Brannon, younger sister Cheryl Brannon Grose, and her first husband Bruce Earl Church. Janet is survived by her husband Harold Lee Salmons, her daughter Sandy Johnson, her grandchildren Kayla (Ethan) Hayes, Austin (Skylar) Johnson, her great-granddaughters Adalyn, Kadence, and Reece, her sister-in-law Geraldine H. Brannon, her niece Laura Brannon, her nephew Justin (Amanda) Gordon, and her great niece and nephews Tanner, Harper, and Mason Gordon. She graduated with the last class from West Yadkin High School in 1967. She sang in Glee Club, was in F.H.A and the Pep Club, was Chief Cheerleader her junior and senior years, and was voted most school spirit by her senior class. Her first husband, Bruce, was tragically killed in a car accident when their daughter Sandy was two years old. Janet was Sandy’s best friend, confidant, and supporter. Janet was a dedicated Christian who faithfully attended Branon Friends Meeting throughout her youth and sang alto in the choir with her mother. She thrived in her role as a pastor’s wife with Harold. They served at Harmony Grove Friends, Winthrop Friends, and visited many other churches as evangelists. Her coconut pies were a favorite at covered dish meals. Janet worked for many years in the banking industry. She began her career at Bank of Yadkin and retired from Yadkin Valley Bank and Trust. In addition to being a bank teller, she was a Godly wife, loving mother, and doting Memaw. Janet inherited many qualities from her mother. She was patient, kind, and showed her love with pats on your cheeks. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Harold were thrilled to welcome their newest great-granddaughter, Reece on February 3, 2025. They were the joy of her life. Memaw was a good cook and enjoyed baking with great-granddaughter Adalyn and taught her niece Laura how to make Grandma’s butterscotch pies and macaroni and cheese. Janet created beautiful monument flowers for many friends and family. She passed this love of flower arranging on to her great-granddaughter Adalyn. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Union Cross Friends Meeting in Yadkinville with a memorial service to follow, and the burial will be immediately after. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Yadkin Christian Ministries or Samaritan’s Purse. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Salmons family.
