Janet Gordon Whitaker

Hamptonville Mrs. Janet Louise Gordon Whitaker, 72, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Whitaker was born December 10, 1947 in Forsyth County to James and Edith Linville Gordon. Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Savannah Fox; and several siblings. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Samuel Thomas Whitaker; four children, Michael T. Whitaker, Julie Whitaker Wilmoth (Patrick Snider), Lisa (Jeremy) Milhoan, and Crystal (Doug) Fox; grandchildren, Stacy (Scott) Gibson, Tracy (Joshua) Swaim, Kristen Michael, Ralph "Sam" McCann, Kacie McCann, Tara Milhoan, Douglas Fox and James Fox; great grandchildren, Jordan, Gage, Lucas, Parker and Gunner; and a sister, Virginia Church. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville with Rev. Brian Chilton officiating. Burial will follow at Asbury UMC cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00PM Monday evening at the funeral home. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Whitaker family.
