Janice Crissman Moxley

August 9, 1941 — July 10, 2017

Moxley   BOONVILLE-  Mrs. Janice Crissman Moxley, 75,  passed away after a courageous battle with Ovarian cancer. But just as in life, Janice had the last laugh in death for today she is in Heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.   Janice was born in Yadkin County on August 9th, 1941 to Elmer Crissman and Goldie Crissman Hobson and our world was never the same. She is survived by her husband of 57 years and love of her life, Bobby Dean Moxley. Together, they raised four wonderful children, Deana M. (Bobby) Cheek, Robert W. (Julie) Moxley, Goldie M. (H. Smith) Williams, and Matthew K. (Toni) Moxley. Janice also adored her 11 grandchildren; Amanda (Rocky) Edwards, Joshua Cheek, Janna Cheek, Aiden Cheek, Trevor Moxley, Abby Moxley, Caroline Williams, Katey Williams, Mattie Moxley, Holden Moxley, and Colton Moxley. Janice was also blessed with 6 great-grandchildren and many “adopted grandchildren” that she considered “her’s” after they did what she said. Also surviving are her beloved sisters and brothers, Frankie Hutchens, Cora Lee (Mitchell) Casstevens, Jack C. (Linda) Crissman, Ross (Eloise) Crissman, Kay (Wayne) Hayes, Don (Nancy) Hobson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends. In addition to her parents, Janice was also preceded in death by her step-father, Claude Hobson.   Janice lived her life just as she fought her battle with cancer, with a ferociousness that would tame the wildest beast. She lived, loved and died on her own terms always knowing that one day she would be in Jesus’ arms.   Besides her family, Janice had a passion for playing games and camping. It was not the activity she loved as much as it was the interaction she had with others. She loved the people she played games and camped with. She loved seeing them, being with them and loved listening to their stories. Janice also loved traveling to different places in her camper and either she was not afraid of anybody or she had never met a stranger. Either way, once you met Janice, it was hard to forget her.   If you knew Janice, then chances are you knew she had a garden. She was very proud of her green beans, tomatoes, and her pickles are so good that you think that they would be served in Heaven. She was more than willing to share with you if you were willing to get out there and pick. No one worried about knowing what to do, she would supervise.   Lastly, but certainly not least, Janice’s faith in our Lord Jesus Christ shown as bright as the sun. She knew her Bible through and through and had a passion to make sure others had a heart for Christ. She needed to know that people were saved so they would be with her in Heaven one day. One of Janice’s victories is that one of her grandchildren accepted Christ as his Savior on the same evening she met Jesus.   The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.  Her Service of Celebration will be 3:00 PM Thursday at Richmond Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Will Hamrick and Rev. Phillip Link.  Burial will follow the service in the North Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Boonville.    The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Rolland Barrett, LeAnn Shaffner, staff of the Derrick C. Davis Cancer Center of Forsyth Medical Center, for their wonderful care and to the nursing staff of the Mountain Valley Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Meme McKensie Brown “Fight Like a Girl” Scholarship Fund, NCCF, 3737 Glennwood Avenue, Suite 460, Raleigh, NC 27612 or to Mountain Valley Hospice SECU Yadkin Hospice Home, 320 West Maple Street, Yadkinville, NC  27055.  Online condolences may be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
