Jean Reavis Whitsett, 73, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024, with her sisters at her side at Yadkin Nursing Center.
She was born April 12, 1951, in Forsyth County to the late Clyde (Chunky) and Francis Harmon Reavis. Jean graduated from Forbush High School and continued her education at East Carolina University. Upon graduating with a BS in Education she moved to Bethesda, Maryland and began a career in banking. After several years she decided to move back to North Carolina to be closer to family, ultimately settling in Charlotte. After becoming disabled with lupus, Jean found her true calling in life helping to tutor immigrant children and assisting their parents with business and legal concerns. Jean enjoyed the beach, visiting family, reading, and following politics.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry G. Reavis; and nephew, Jeff Drum. She is survived by her sisters, Rebecca R. McCarson and husband Tony, Lisa R. Drum and husband Jim; sister-in-law, Tammy D. Reavis; nieces, Erin McCarson and husband Luis Cerda, Lauren Heller and husband Brian; nephew, Sam McCarson and wife Erin Cooke; great niece, Maddie Heller; great nephews, Cooper McCarson Cerda and Jake Drum.
A private service will be held at a later date.
