On Friday, January 26th, our Savior and many beloved saints rejoiced to welcome Jeanie Marie Jennings Walker to her eternal home. Born on Sunday, May 11th, 1941 in Wilkes County, NC, Jeanie was a Mother’s Day gift to her parents, Reverand James E. Jennings and Velma Hill Kennedy Jennings. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, niece, and cousin throughout her life, always a source of strength and comfort to her family as long as they were here on earth. On December 26th, 1959, she married her only love, Robert Lee Walker, and shared a life with him that few are privileged to experience for 62 years when Robert went to await their heavenly reunion. Jeanie’s special gift was providing love and encouragement to others wherever there was a need for support or an opportunity to honor, praise and celebrate, particularly when it came to her family. Her life as a homemaker was consistently seasoned with her incredible creativity and passion for attempting challenging projects at which she usually excelled. Her capacity to love as a mother may have only been rivalled by the unsurmountable adoration she had for her grandsons who brought her indescribable joy and fulfillment. In addition to her parents and husband, Jeanie endured the loss of many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins who she continued to remember lovingly throughout her life, her in-laws James Comie and Freda Hines Walker, her beloved brother David Michael Jennings and several special friends who she loved deeply. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law Wendy and Todd Plummer of Conway, SC, her grandsons and their beautiful girls Robert and Jillian Brown of Yadkinville, TJ Brown and Jacklyn Humel and Jon Brown and Shelby Reich, all of East Bend, her adored nephew and nieces and their families Crystal Jennings, Zach Jennings and Samantha Scott, and her sister-in-law Phyllis Alexander. The family will visit with those who loved Jeanie on Sunday, January 28th from 1:00-2:00pm, with a service to celebrate her life immediately following, at 2:00pm, by Chris Brown at the East Bend location of Gentry Family Funeral Services. The family will privately lay her to rest in the following days. Special appreciation is extended to Patriot Hospice of Conway, SC and Ms. Edith Weaver of Hemmingway, SC, for the loving care they extended to Jeanie in her final months.
